At Balk Shipyard we see refitting as a specialised sub-industry. Refits and rebuilds are our core business: We are not distracted by new builds.

Our brand-new facilities were designed entirely based on the specific requirements of refits. This sets us very much apart from most other yards that offer refits while being primarily focused on building new yachts.

Be prepared
One of the factors that make a refit so different from a new build is the need for careful preparation. When a yacht arrives at the yard, everything must be carefully reviewed and inventoried to be sure every detail is considered.

Be flexible
There is a delicate balance between what needs changing and what must stay. This is where close cooperation with the owner pays dividends. Everyone at Balk knows this and recognises the need to work as a team with the client and his representatives. Ideas evolve during a refit and the yard must have the flexibility to respond quickly and efficiently. At the same time, clients must also be able to trust that a meticulous eye will be kept on costs.

Be equipped
One of our greatest assets is the ability to take on almost every aspect of a project in-house. From extending the superstructure to relaying the deck, from repairing navigation equipment to decorating a cabin, from installing the latest systems to complete engine overhauls, Balk has the expertise and the facilities.

Balk works with a project-managed approach and all who work here have at least 10 to 15 years experience in the industry. We are at your service.
