The facilities at Balk Shipyard are state-of-the-art, covering more than 10,000 square metres in the picturesque harbour town of Urk in the north of the Netherlands. The site includes three construction halls, additional berths for up to seven yachts, and large storage units, making it perfectly equipped for any refit, rebuild, or new build project up to 65 metres in length. Built for every refit and rebuild, our shipyard combines scale with precision enabling continuity, reliability and trusted delivery.
STATE-OF-THE-ART FACILITIES
All three construction halls are carefully laid out and outfitted to take on any type of work, whether it’s a repaint, minor maintenance work, or a large extension. Each hall is air-conditioned, fitted with floor heating, and temperature-controlled to ensure that all paintwork can be completed in optimal conditions. Air quality is also regulated through ventilation and humidity controls, guaranteeing a safe environment for our team, your crew, and, ultimately, your yacht. Rooted in Dutch quality, every detail of our facilities supports reliability and flawless execution.
PRECISION HANDLING FOR YACHTS
A rail system runs throughout our yard, allowing us to move yachts safely and efficiently from the water into any of our halls. Our unique and secure 1,000-tonne lifting system means that we do not need to rely on travel lifts and hoists, making us an ideal choice for both sailing and motor yachts. This infrastructure enables the precise, coordinated execution we are known for, built for continuity and trusted when timing matters most.
FACILITIES FOR CREW
We also have offices, conference halls, and storage facilities available for crew. Our largest meeting room can host up to 15 people. Many of our offices offer commanding views of the projects in our halls or overlook our yard. Additionally, a convenient warehouse with a collection area is located in direct proximity to the halls.
Housing is also available for crew members staying with their projects for extended periods. These are beautiful two-story houses in the neighbouring town, offering quintessentially Dutch charm. Our properties are flexible and can be reserved for as long as needed. Just like our refit, rebuild and survey services, the experience for crew is built around comfort, care and professionalism, where people and precision come together.
