Elegancy and sophistication at its finest
In November 2016 MY Charisma arrived at our premises after her Owner granted us the refit. A 46.3m classic motor yacht custom built in 1985 by Feadship at the Royal van Lent yard with an interior design by Leonard Melse, Donald Starkey and Andrew Sheinman and an exterior styling designed by De Voogt Naval Architects.
As soon as MY Charisma was in the refit facility her name soon changed into MY Explora. Very applicable as her Owners plan to explore the seas with her. However, before heading towards the oceans, some refit works needed to be done by the refit specialists of Balk Shipyard.
We consider the refit as a more technical and exterior refit. Explora got a full paint job and turned from an already elegant yacht into an even more elegant and sophisticated yacht with her hull painted in Flag Blue and a white stripe of Fleet White on top of the bow – right under her cap rails. One of the guest cabins has been rebuilt into a massage salon where her guests can enjoy massages and relax.
While her refit was well underway, concluded was that her foredeck and few other areas needed steel reinforcements – our craftsmen made sure she got reinforced wherever needed. Besides these reinforcements, Explora’s caprails were stripped and re-varnished and partly new teak decks were layed. Her wheelhouse got a tremendous interior and technical refit – all electric systems (f.e. nav/com and wifi) were updated and a new bow thruster was installed.
On Thursday 15th of June 2017 MY Explora was launched and got delivered to her extremely proud and happy Owner on Saturday 8th of July 2017 after commissioning and some extensive sea trials.
